Court Rules Against Port of New Orleans and St. Bernard Port

A local court ruled today against the Port of New Orleans and the Port of St. Bernard in a major setback for the proposed container terminal known as LIT. In an unprecedented act of aggression, the Port of New Orleans sued an individual in an attempt to deprive him of his constitutionally protected rights to inspect public records. Then, the St. Bernard Port followed Port of New Orleans’ lead and sued the individual as well. It was shown in court that both Ports were trying to hide the ball to prevent public documents from being uncovered that could assist our District Attorney, Perry Nicosia, in his lawsuit on behalf of our entire Parish, the Parish President, and the Parish Council to stop this devastating development. Today, the court unequivocally ruled against both ports and ordered them to respond to the public record requests as required under the law. With these public records, we will have additional evidence about the deal that was made by the two Ports. Together, we will put a stop to the proposed container terminal once and for all.
